The Big Green Challenge - and the next challenge
Submitted by Esther Boyd on Thu, 06/03/2008 - 11:15.
SusMo submitted an expression of interest for consideration for an award from the Big Green Challenge. This is a £1 million prize fund, designed to encourage and reward people working together to achieve a 60% reduction of CO2 emissions in their communities.
See www.biggreenchallenge.org.uk
There were 352 submissions - sadly Susmo was not chosen to go through to the next stage. This caused a short, down moment but we move on to further action.
A new 'Green Neighbourhoods' programme has been launched. This community-based programme aims to help up to 100 selected neighbourhoods in England to reduce their carbon footprints by 60%.
SusMo will work with other Moseley and Birmingham organisations to gain green neighbourhood status.

Please can SusMo consider asking shops and businesses to install cycle parking for customers?
Currently Sainsburys, The Prince of Wales and Fighting Cocks all have this facility but it would be great if more did. I shop in Moseley by bike and really appreciate being able to lock my bike up right outside Sainsburys. This is a factor I consider when choosing where to shop. It shows they care about people who cycle and can help encourage more people to cycle rather than drive.
Thank You
